Handmade pet memorial stones - carefully crafted using pet cremains and organic earth materials.
Urn To Stone will memorialize your pet's cremains in a one of a kind work of art. Our specialized "Ashes to Aggregates" process will fuse your beloved pet's cremains with raw earth materials. The material will then be crafted and cured to create a personalized memorial stone.
Hi, we are Dan and Jen Wight. We live in a suburb of Boston with our 3 children and 2 dogs. Urn to Stone happened organically after losing our first pet as a couple, Bigsby (the orange tabby cat), 20 years ago. After Bigsby was cremated we received his cremains in plastic bag placed in a small wooden box. This box traveled with us through several moves, finally settling in the basement of our current home. We loved that cat, and agreed that he deserved better than a box in the basement!
With Dan's background in sculpture and Jen's passion for landscape and organic materials, Urn to Stone was born. We developed a process we call "Ashes to Aggregates" and created a beautiful garden statue using Bigsby's cremains. After years of making these sculptures for friends we have now decided to offer this service to the general public.
We are animal lovers above all else. We were both raised in homes that included a variety of dogs, cats, chickens, bunnies, fish, and even the occasional snapping turtle pulled from the local pond. Our passion for pets has been a common thread in our busy lives. So much so that in 2021 Jen left behind the cooperate world and started The Whispering Wolf - a local pick up and play service for dogs.
Unfortunately, anyone who has loved a pet also knows the grief associated with losing them. We know this feeling well and have mourned the passing of too many pets to remember. Additionally, going back to our childhoods we have experienced many different methods of memorialization: from back yard burial ceremonies; to "...Dad's taking Rex to live on a farm"; to everything in between.
Personally, we've found that the one of biggest voids left in the passing of our pets is that shared tactile connection. There is something about touching our dogs, Dragon and Gypsy, that has this irreplaceable calming quality. It lowers our blood pressure, it eases our anxiety, and it provides a level of comfort that is unlike any other.
The idea behind Urn to Stone is to capture that sacred connection to your pet. Memorializing your pet's cremains in an object won't replace them. However, our hope is that the creation of a Memorial Stone will allow you to touch, hold and feel some of the bond that you shared.
Thanks!
Dan and Jen Wight
